An exhibition entitled 'in earth, in sea, in sky', featuring two centuries of Belgian science, will be open from 12 January to 8 March 2004 at the Academia Belgica in Rome, Italy.

The exhibition follows on from a similar event held in Brussels in 2002, which traced the history of science in Belgium from 1815 to 2001. The highlights of that exhibition, featuring instruments, models, and archive pieces, will be on display throughout the upcoming show.

The exhibition will be organised under the following headings:
- the creation of scientific universities;
- experimental and industrial science on the German model;
- the rebirth of science under Albert I and the creation of the national scientific research foundations;
