From March 2004 to the beginning of 2005, the permanent representation of Sweden to the EU, in collaboration with a number of Swedish research funding agencies and foundations, will organise, in Brussels, a series of seminars entitled 'Views on research and innovation - European challenges and Swedish R&D [research and development]'.

The first seminar in the series, dedicated to the Baltic Sea and its region, will take place on 18 March and will address key issues of environmental challenges and sustainability.

Topics to be discussed include:
- fish and fishing;
- technology platforms for sustainable development;
- marine environment;
