A conference on eGovernment will take place in Zakopane, Poland from 23 to 25 June.

Bringing together public administration representatives and information technology (IT) experts, as well as representatives of the European Commission, the main themes of the conference will be:

- the modernisation of public administration and how it can help innovation at local and regional level;
- the e-development of cities and regions in the perspective of an enlarged EU;
- the needs of citizens and small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) for online public services.

The conference will also be an opportunity to present examples of good practice in the implementation of e-government at local and regional level - from pilot tryouts to full implementation.

Other issues discussed will include: smart cards and electronic signatures for citizens; broadband technologies for rural areas, public administration office relations, the role of the Free/Libre and open source software (FLOSS) project, and of telecom operators and information and communications technologies (ICT) sector companies in e-government development.For more information, please visit:
