Workshop on the implementation and monitoring of regional innovation strategies

The IRE-IRC central unit is organising a workshop entitled 'implementation and monitoring of regional innovation strategies,' which will take place in Cyprus on 13 and 14 May.

More than 100 member regions of the Innovating Regions in Europe (IRE) network have created regional innovation strategies, while 20 regions in the acceding and accession countries are about to complete theirs.

This workshop will present the experience of selected regions that have successfully implemented their strategies, thereby boosting innovation. The second part of the event will focus on mechanisms for managing and monitoring innovation activities.

Examples to be presented at the event include:
- the integration of Lower Austria's innovation strategy into the region's Structural Funds programme;
- the implementation of Wales' innovation strategy with regional funding;
- the impact of Swedish regional innovation strategies on national level;
