Meeting to present results of the ECOEHIS pilot study

The results of a pilot study aimed at defining environmental health indicators to be used throughout the EU will be presented at a meeting of the EU funded ECOEHIS project in Bonn, Germany, from 7 to 9 July.
The ECOEHIS project (development of environment and health indicators for the EU countries) has been implemented by World Health Organisation (WHO) to contribute to the European Community health monitoring system.
The project is developed in the context of a broader WHO/EU project on the establishment of Environmental Health Information System (EHIS) in Europe, which will serve monitoring public health and environmental policies, support national and multinational analyses, and facilitate effective decision making related to environmental health risks in the Member States.
Based on the national experiences from the study, as well as the results of the review of the relevant international databases and reporting systems, the Bonn meeting will recommend a list of 'core' indicators ready for immediate inclusion in the Community health monitoring system and the EC Health Indicators core set (ECHI). The meeting will also further discuss the structure of the final report of the ECOEHIS project and will agree on follow-up actions.For further information, please consult the following web address:
