The Innovating Regions in Europe (IRE) is organising a workshop on 'Innovation financing at regional level', to be held in Prague, the Czech Republic, from 15 to 16 November.

The workshop will bring together regional, national and European examples of how companies, particularly small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs), can access innovation financing.

A number of funding schemes to facilitate companies' access to private sources of finance will be presented, namely:

- The Catalonian Venture Capital Fund and Enterprise Catalonia in Spain;
- The local guarantee scheme developed by the region of Warmia and Mazury in Poland;
- The West Midlands' efforts to connect technology-based businesses with the financial resources needed for growth in the UK.

The aim of the workshop is to provide a better understanding of successful mechanisms for providing innovation finance, especially for the new EU Member States and the candidate countries.For more information, please visit the following website:
