Environmentally friendly food production systems in the Baltic States

The Sixth Framework Programme (FP6) project ENVIRFOOD (Environmental friendly food production system: requirements for plant breeding and seed production) is organising a four-day seminar, to be held from 31 May to 3 June in Talsi, Latvia.
The aim of the conference is to bring together currently fragmented cereals research expertise in the Baltic States (Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania). The organisers hope the event will result in a scientific programme for collaboration in plant breeding, variety testing and seed production for organic and low-input agriculture in the Baltic countries.
Discussions will also address capacity building and creation of a critical mass of human resources in order to promote participation in the European Research Area (ERA).For more information, please contact:
