The Sixth Framework Programme (FP6) CASCADE Network of Excellence is organising an information day on chemical pollutants in food, to be held in Visby, Sweden, on 8 July.

The aim of this event is to provide information on, and discuss, the Scandinavian and EU standpoints and strategies on European integrated research, and policies concerning environmental pollutants in food.

Topics will include:
- hormone-disrupting chemicals - what are they? How dangerous are they to our health? How far has science progressed? Where are the knowledge gaps?
- Work on the political agenda to combat dangerous chemicals in food. Current strategies, nationally and in the EU;
- the work by the European Commission to eliminate risks associated with hormone-disrupting substances. What is the status of REACH and the Community plan for endocrine disrupters? Should all chemicals be tested for hormonal effects? Is this possible?For further information, please visit:
