Inspired by the success of the First World Science Forum in 2003, the Hungarian Academy of Sciences - in partnership with UNESCO and the International Council for Science (ICSU) - organizes the second World Science Forum in Budapest, Hungary, 10-12, November.
The Forum will tackle the ethical aspects of knowledge and the responsibility of scientists.
Many prominent academics, politicians and members of the international scientific community will participate in the Forum, including Torsten Wiesel, Nobel Laureate, Former President of the Rockefeller University, Goverdhan Mehta, the President of the ICSU, and Janez Potocnik, EU Commissioner for Research.
The participants will discuss on the following topics:
- The Scientists' Approach - The Political Decision Makers Approach;
- Capacity Building and Implementation;
- The Role of Business;
- Perspectives from the Developing World;
- Challenges for the Environment;
- Educating Future Generations.
The organisers of the Forum aim at turning the web site of the World Science Forum into a basic reference tool of thinking about the questions of science and society.
