A European Conference, "Library Networking in Europe", will take place in Brussels on 12-14 October 1994. It's aim is to help libraries make the best use of networks and other technological developments and to share experiences in this field at a European level.

A senior representative of the Commission and the heads of major national libraries in Europe will express their views, and over 30 experts will present experiences in fields such as electronic publishing, new bibliographic services, OSI standards, multimedia, management, etc.

In addition to conference sessions at which a selection of projects from the EC's LIBRARIES action will be described, the results of a wide range of projects will be presented in a "Project Review". The aim is to highlight the impact and enhance the spin-off effect of this programme. The next EC plan of action in the field of libraries will also be outlined at the conference.

Numerous companies and institutions from the library sector will display new products and services at the parallel professional exhibition open during the three days of the conference.

The event is organized by the European Foundation for Library Cooperation (EFLC) in cooperation with the European Bureau of Library, Information and Documentation Associations (EBLIDA) and the Ligue des Bibliotheques Europeennes de Recherche (LIBER) with the support of the European Commission.
