A joint conference of three FP5 projects - PINCHE, ChildrenGenoNetwork and Plutocracy - will take place in Brussels, Belgium, from 23 to 25 November.

The meeting will present the outcomes of the three projects funded under the key action 4, 'environment and health', of the Fifth Framework Programme (FP5): 'policy interpretation network on children's health and the environment' (PINCHE), the 'European network on children's susceptibility and exposure to environmental genotoxicants' (ChildrenGenoNetwork) and the 'placental uptake and transfer of environmental chemicals relating to allergy in childhood years' (Plutocracy).

These three projects have all carried out studies relating to environmental exposure effects upon child health, with particular focus upon the unborn child. The areas of interest include policy implications relating to child health, research into children's exposure and susceptibility to genotoxicants, and research on in utero exposure to environmental agents such as organochlorine pesticides and subsequent development of allergy in childhood.

The meeting provides an opportunity for the involvement of stakeholder groups with an interest in the area of environmental child health. Results and policy implications from the projects will be presented by the consortia, and there will be poster presentations of research in related scientific areas. For further information, please consult the following web address:
