5 May 1994 - 5 May 1994
Luxembourg
In recognition of the need to augment the dissemination of RTD information the Commission will organize an information day on 5 May 1994 in Luxembourg. This occasion will present an opportunity for interested parties - both Commission and non-Commission - to familiarize themselves with CORDIS.
The Information Day will cover:

- Panel Discussion:
Mr. Mario Bellardinelli will chair a discussion on the priority interests of the various RTD constituencies such as scientists, researchers, academics and manufacturers.

- Scientific literature:
The importance of scientific literature cannot be overstated. The Commission publishes a comprehensive range of titles covering all areas where the European Union supports research. Mr. Edward Phillips will outline the scope and value of the Union's scientific and research publications.

- CORDIS live:
Mr. Bernd Niessen will give a presentation on CORDIS which will cover its scope, access and use. A demonstration will also be given on the new user friendly interfaces.

- VIPS press service:
The Commission runs an information service for the press, VIPS, which provides assistance to the media in gathering scientific information resulting from the European Union's research initiatives.

- Grey literature:
Grey literature is an important means for the fast dissemination of scientific information. The European Association for Grey Literature Exploitation (EAGLE) plays an important role in improving the circulation of scientific literature in Europe. A presentation on EAGLE will be given by a senior representative of the Association.
