A workshop on future challenges for media management and monitoring will take place in Darmstadt, Germany, from 17 to 18 October.

The workshop is organised by the Multimedia Information Systems working group at Fraunhofer IGD as a dissemination event for the EU's Sixth Framework Programme (FP6) project DIRECT-INFO. The project deals with the development of new technologies for media monitoring and multimodal analysis of broadcasted content.

The workshop aims to bring together the key-players in digital media content-related fields, including researchers and practitioners from academia and industry, application users, and content providers. It will serve as a forum for discussion, presentation, and exploration of available and developing technology and applications. The target is to obtain an overview of the available technology, and to gain an understanding of the requirements and common challenges facing the business domain, and to match them with current and future research directions. For further information, please visit:
