An international symposium on tunnel aerodynamics and ventilation will take place in Portoroz, Slovenia, from 11 to 13 July 2006.
The safe operation of road and rail tunnels is always a major issue for the transport industry. A new directive (2004/54/EC) on road tunnel safety comes into force on 1 May 2006, with major implications for any structure opening after that date. The symposium will embrace all aspects of tunnel aerodynamics and ventilation, including both technical and non-technical issues: from high level considerations about planning, cost and safety to the practicalities of assessing, maintaining and upgrading existing systems.For further information, please visit:
