An international conference on the digitisation of European cultural heritage will take place on 21 and 22 June 2006 in Salzburg, Austria. The event is being organised by Salzburg Research on behalf of the Austrian Federal Ministry for Education, Science and Culture.

The conference will investigate the three areas mentioned in the title, namely the challenges of collecting, connecting and conserving cultural treasures and scientific information. Delegates will explore EU initiatives to preserve European cultural heritage and ways to make it available to all EU citizens. Discussion will centre on the proposed i2010 initiative for a European Digital Library and the Dynamic Action Plan.

Representatives from regional, national and international cultural heritage institutions, lobbies and associations, delegates of the National Representatives Group, international and national research communities, multimedia entrepreneurs and technology providers, representatives of the European Commission, political decision makers, and national and regional press are all targets for the conference.For further information, please visit:
