A conference on 'investing in research and development (R&D) and innovation - reconciling corporate strategies with financial markets', will take place in London, UK, on 18 and 19 May.

The event will be an opportunity for discussion on policy and financial issues associated with the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7), as well as the role of the Member States in creating more favourable investment climates for EU R&D.

A panel discussion will focus upon emerging Asian markets, as well as existing US markets, and will explore the potential opportunities and threats that they pose to the growth of EU research and innovation investment.

The conference will also offer empirical evidence of how to develop small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) into large, international businesses, focusing on the role of venture capital and SME policy and practical support.
