A conference on superhard coatings will take place in Ein Gedi, Israel, from 27 February to 2 March.
The cost to the world economy due to wear and erosion of mechanical parts is extremely high, and includes direct costs for replacing worn parts, as well as indirect costs including loss of service, and losses from accidents attributed to worn parts. One way of reducing these costs, and building machines and vehicles which are more reliable and last longer, is to coat components subject to wear with a hard film.
The conference is being conducted within the framework of a Coordination Action funded by the European Community and run by a consortium of eight academic and research institutions in Europe and Israel working on the DESHNAF project.For further information, please consult the following web address:
