The 'Understand' project is to hold a conference on 'Learning from regional benchmarking to make i2010 a reality in the regions' at the Committee of the Regions in Brussels, Belgium on 30 March.

The i2010 initiative aims to exploit the opportunities for economic growth and jobs in Europe by promoting an open and competitive digital economy. The Understand project is funded by the Commission's Regional Policy DG, and is comparing and evaluating regional development of the information society by defining and applying a set of common regional e-indicators on Internet usage by citizens and business, e-government and broadband infrastructure.

The conference will disseminate the results from the second year of the project, and will have a special focus on the impact of these results on policy making. The event will also address how regions can contribute to the achievement of the i2010 goals.For further information, please consult the following web address:
