A workshop on climatic change and impacts in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) will take place from 13 to 15 September in Poïana Brasov, Romania.

The event will bring together scientists from the Balkans, Central Europe, and the Baltic States who are interested in the physical, environmental and socio-economic dimensions of climatic change. Topics to be discussed will include:

- quantifying the performance of climate model projections at the regional scale, particularly for the Danube Basin and the Balkans;
- quantifying the uncertainties in the simulation of extreme events at the regional scale;
- extreme weather events in Eastern Europe and their sensitivity to global climatic change;
- abrupt climatic change;
- assessing the impacts of climatic change, particularly on the hydrological cycle in CEE;
- risk reduction, including prediction and early warning systems for key sectors such as agriculture, energy, water resources.

The workshop is being organised by partners in the ENSEMBLES project - an Integrated Project funded under the thematic priority 'Global Change and Ecosystems' of the Sixth Framework Programme (FP6.For further information, please visit:
