The European week of Regions and Cities will take place in Brussels from 9 to 12 October. This year the event is subtitled 'Investing in Europe's Regions and Cities: Public and Private Partners for Growth and Jobs', and is organised by the Committee of the Regions and the European Commission's Regional Policy DG, in cooperation with 14 conglomerations of 134 Brussels-based city offices.

The event will host more than 130 regions and cities in addition to public, private and financial sector institutions. More than 3,000 regional development experts will contribute to 80 seminars, workshops and other sessions.

Sessions will address five main sub-themes:
- investing in competitive enterprises and high quality jobs;
- fostering regional innovation;
- investing in sustainable use of resources and environmental technologies;
- support public-private partnerships for larger infrastructure projects;
- cutting red tape: managing the Structural Funds between 2007 and 2013.

In addition to the usual core events, such as seminars, workshops, and media and social activities, this year to new activities will be added:

- open days in all regions and cities interested in decentralised presentations, debates and exhibitions on the new Structural Funds programmes;
- an 'Investors' Café': a market place for regions, financial institutions and investors to meet.For further information, please visit:
