The European Commission is organising a conference on information and communication technologies (ICT) research and biomedical sciences, to be held on 29 and 30 June in Brussels.

The event will focus on topics that lie at the crossroads of ICT research and life sciences research, such as:
- multilevel modelling and simulation of human physiology and disease related processes;
- biomedical informatics;
- biomedical imaging;
- systems biology;
- grid based health information infrastructure and applications;
- bio inspired ICT.

Discussions will tackle research challenges and how they could be addressed by the Seventh Framework programme (FP7), as well as benefits and impacts on society and economy.

The Commissioner for Information Society and Media, Viviane Reding, together with invited national Ministers and Members of European Parliament will open the conference.

The conference is organised by the European Commission DG Information Society and Media (INFSO) and DG Research, with the support of three roadmapping projects of DG INFSO: Synergies in Medical Informatics and Bioinformatics (SYMBIOMATICS); A Strategy for the EuroPhysiome (STEP) and Supporting and Structuring HealthGrid Activities & Research in Europe (SHARE).For more information, please visit:
