CEVALSI has organised a conference to examine the effects of the information communication technologies (ICT) on society, and how far ICT has developed in support of the 'Information Society'. The conference will take place in Alicante, Spain between 5 and 6 October.

The conference will open discussions into the impact of ICT in different regions of Europe. The event will host new ideas and present new concepts and research into ICT impact and reach, and how these factors contribute to the European Commission's i2010 initiative.

Presentations will focus on the Spanish experience, e-commerce, e-administration and the interface between citizen and user. The organisers hope to set-up an 'International Network of Observatories on the Information Society' and establish a 'Key aspects catalogue' for the appropriate measurement of the Information Society progress.
