The 26th General Assembly of the International Astronomical Union (IAU) will be held in Prague, Czech Republic, from 14 to 25 August 2006.

At the meeting, top specialists from member countries of the Union will evaluate astronomical discoveries made during the last three years, and negotiate the continuation of international cooperation.

The General Assembly of the IAU will address some of the most important issues in astronomy, astrophysics and related disciplines. These include small bodies in the Solar System which could approach Earth; double stars and their role in determining distances in space; star formation; the evolution of galaxies and black holes.For more information, please visit:
