A conference on "Current research information systems in Europe: A step further" will take place in Milan, Italy, on 11-13 May 1995.

The conference aims to define future measures in the following areas:

- Limited usage of current research information systems and the lack of interest from potential users;
- Emerging concept of pan-European data exchange on research and research collaboration;
- Consequences of the applications of new information technologies and networking on CRIS.

The following conference topics will be addressed:
- Experience in the efficient and broadened use of CRIS;
- Towards a European CRIS;
- Applications of the new information technologies on CRIS;
- Other issues of CRIS: data protection and privacy, copyright, etc.

The following deadlines apply:

- 1 July 1994: Suggestions for other topics of interest; expressions of interest in presenting a paper or poster, or demonstrating a database or application; title and summary of contributions for papers.
- 1 March 1995: Final version of the papers.
- 1 April 1995: Posters and demos of databases and applications.
