Meeting on standardisation in the field of internet filtering tools
Nearly half of all people in the European Union are now internet users. However, potentially harmful and illegal material exists on the internet, and in response to this, consumers are turning to filtering tools to protect children and to defend themselves against viruses and unwanted 'spam' e-mail. The performance of these tools varies widely, and consumers often find them difficult to use
ANEC, the European Association for the Co-ordination of Consumer Representation in Standardisation has commissioned a report into the potential of standardisation in this domain. This will be presented and discussed at the meeting, together with the options for standards action needed to implement the recommendations. For more information, please
