Workshop on environment and health

A workshop on environment and health entitled 'Air quality research needs and opportunities in the EU Seventh Framework Programme of Research (FP7)' will be held in Brussels, Belgium, on 15 and 16 January 2007.
The workshop will look at the current state of scientific knowledge and provide a forward looking perspective on emerging challenges and opportunities for policy-relevant research on the health effects of air quality.
The objectives of the workshop are to:
- foster a multidisciplinary approach to identifying research needs and opportunities in air quality;
- serve as a forum for international exchange and integration of data, particularly between disciplines (e.g. between toxicology and epidemiology);
- provide ample opportunity for participants to reveal gaps and discrepancies and identify the most productive areas for future studies building on successful approaches in previous framework programmes.
The workshop aims to bring together European Commission staff involved in optimising European air quality, active researchers from academia and public health institutions, industry experts and other stakeholders.For more information, please visit:
