An international conference on 'Design and public policy: markets for congestion and carbon trading' will be held at the University of Essex, UK, on 11 and 12 January.

The aim of the conference is to examine the pros and cons of government versus market oriented solutions for the problem of controlling and pricing the negative economic impacts of road congestion and industrial environmental pollution.
