A conference entitled 'ICT standardization and research - towards FP7' will take place on 17 January in Brussels, Belgium.

The conference brings together stakeholders involved in the research and standards interfacing process. Senior representatives from both the information and communication technologies (ICT) research and standards communities, as well as from the European Commission, will address topics such as:

- addressing the challenges ICT projects face when cooperating with standards organisations;
- organising interfacing between research and standardisation in the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7), and the role of European Technology Platforms (ETPs);
- focusing on areas in ICT standardisation where closer cooperation with research projects in FP7 will be required;
- making participation in standards processes more attractive to research projects in FP7;
- providing recommendations from FP6 for the research/standards interfacing process in FP7.For more information, please visit:
