The EU-funded THINK&ACT project will hold a series of conferences in an attempt to answer the question: 'How can European research in the social sciences and humanities improve evidence-based policy-making in the EU?'

Each of the five conferences will analyse a theme addressed under the EU's Fifth Framework Programme for research (FP5) in a national context. The first conference will take place in Paris, France, from 10 to 12 January, and will examine governance and democracy.

The THINK&ACT partners hope that the series of events will improve communication between researchers, policy-makers and the media.

The conference calendar is as follows:
- governance and democracy, Paris, 10-12 January;
- citizenship and identity in the EU, Rome, March 2007;
- gender issues and enlargement, Budapest, June 2007;
- social cohesion, Madrid, October 2007;
- challenges to EU enlargement and border issues, Istanbul, April 2008.For further information, please visit:
