A conference on local and regional governments in the information society, EISCO 2007, will take place in Hämeenlinna, Finland, from 16 to 18 April.

The event will build upon the commitments made at EISCO 2005, when the i2010 Digital Local Agenda was adopted.

This year's event will also focus on how to move beyond isolated success stories - unleashing the potential benefits of information and communication technologies (ICT) at local and regional level, and overcoming obstacles.

The conference will address five areas:
- engaging citizens in the local decision-making process;
- e-capacity-building;
- ICT infrastructure and wireless systems for e-services in Europe's regions;
- e-government interoperability and support for networked enterprises;
