Congress on Mediterranean science

The 38th international congress of the Mediterranean Science Commission (CIESM) will be held in Istanbul, Turkey from 9 to 13 April.

CIESM congresses have been held regularly around the Mediterranean shores since 1919. This conference will bring together more than 800 marine scientists from around the world to present and discuss the most important issues facing the Mediterranean and Black Seas.

Items on the agenda include:

- Mediterranean biodiversity online;
- recent advances in Black Sea sciences;
- ecosystem changes - past, present and future;
- chemical contaminants and public health;
- deep Mediterranean Sea - new insights and perspectives;
- warning signals of ecosystem trends;
- dynamics of the Marmara Sea and connecting straits;
