The Innovating Regions in Europe (IRE) will hold a plenary conference in Ennis, Ireland, on 24 and 25 May.

The event will bring together key policy-makers and innovation practitioners, and will explore the main challenges for regional innovation policies in the coming years.

The focus of this year's event will be 'Fostering the knowledge economy in Europe: making regional innovation policies more innovative'. Topics for discussion will include:
- methodology for assessing the impact of regional innovation polices;
- ways to promote innovation in the service sector and the different challenges this brings, compared to more traditional innovation in the manufacturing industry;
- innovation in traditional areas, with a specific focus on exploring alternatives to developing high-tech sectors.

The conference will also include the presentation of the IRE Award for the best European regional innovation scheme.For further information, please visit:
