2007 regional economic forum to focus on public R&D and Structural Funds

The European Regional Economic Forum (EREF) will take place from 31 May to 2 June in Nova Gorica, Slovenia.
The focus of this year's event will be the public funding of research and development (R&D), as well as communication, and the role of the EU's Structural Funds in supporting knowledge-based competitiveness.
In addition to business and R&D stakeholders, representatives from regional and local authorities, as well as the EU institutions, European associations and networks, will be present. Participants will exchange views on good practice in making R&D the backbone of development, and creating the conditions for successful reforms in line with the Lisbon objective of making Europe the most competitive economy in the world by 2010.
The Forum will also provide an opportunity to meet potential business and R&D partners from the EU-27, and other countries.
In addition, the Research, Innovation and Business Network for Central and South-Eastern Europe (RIBN) will be holding a business forum alongside the EREF on 30 May.For further information, please visit:
