The World Computer Conference '94 (IFIP) for informatics professionals and users will take place from 27 August to 2 September 1994 in Hamburg, Germany.

The theme of this year's conference is computer and communication evolution and will deal with a wide range of subjects, including:

- Social impact of computers and communications;
- Theoretical foundations of computing;
- Computer and communications for developing countries.

The following workshops will examine important application fields, in which computers and computer technology are the progressive forces:

- Machine learning;
- The international office of the future;
- Information technology and mobility;
- European pioneers in computing;
- Computers, the media and the arts.

The conference will be addressed by Dr Reinhardt Buscher of the Cabinet of Mr Martin Bangemann, Commissioner responsible for Industrial Affairs.
