European Symposium on Advanced Networks and Services

The European Commission, DG XII, is sponsoring a European Symposium on Advanced Networks and Services, to be held in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, on 20-24 March 1995.

The symposium will explore the latest developments in advanced networks and services. It will focus on compression technologies and standards for image and video communications, broadband services, networks and advanced customer services, and passive fibre optic systems and components.

It will present up-to-date R&D results, the technical results of current laboratory studies, applications research, field evaluations, and state-of-the-art techniques and applications.

The symposium includes conferences on:

- Passive fibre optic system components;
- Information storage technologies;
- Broadband strategies and technologies for local, metropolitan, and optical access networks;
- Receivers, transmitters, and WDMs for fibre optic networks;
- Wireless networks and advanced customer services;
- Broadband medical services;
- Compression technologies and standards for image and video communications.
