An international conference on infectious diseases affecting animals will take place in Montpellier, France, from 20 to 22 August.

The event is organised by the Association of Institutions for Tropical Veterinary Medicine (AITVM), which brings together around 20 educational and research institutions. The theme of this year's event is: 'does control of animal infectious risks offer a new international perspective?'

The scientific programme will focus in particular on:
- risk analysis, surveillance and epidemiology;
- new vaccines and consequences of vaccination;
- adoption of food safety standards;
- aquaculture in the South;
- education and continuous professional development;
