A workshop on gender justice and democracy in the European Union will be held in Belfast, Northern Ireland on 28 to 29 September.

The workshop will bring together leading experts on democracy in the EU as well as scholars of gender politics, gender activists and officials across Europe. The main goal is to map the status of gender equality in current EU institutional arrangements and policies and to discuss how gender justice and democracy can best be fostered in the future.

The workshop is organised around a number of key themes, including:

- The evolution of gender equality in the EU;
- Feminist perspectives on justice;
- Gender in EU constitution-making;
- Women's political representation;
- Civil society mobilization;
- Varieties of feminisms / gender identities.
