A conference on the evolution of health following EU enlargement will be held in Brussels, Belgium, on 23 October.

The event marks the end of the EU-funded HEM project, which focused on identifying the reasons for the health gap between Western and Eastern European Union countries. The results of the project, which cover the European health gap in cardiovascular disease, diet, alcohol, tobacco, and injuries, will be presented at the event.

The conference will underline the important role of health determinants and the European democratic process in formulating European health policy. It will bring together high-level EU officials, researchers, scientists, journalists, policy and decision-makers to discuss solutions that could reduce the health gap in Europe.For more information, please visit:
