Telematics for training and education

A conference entitled "Telematics for education and training" will take place on 24-26 November 1994. The conference is being organized as an official event of the German European Union Presidency by the German Ministry of Research and Technology (BMFT). The theme of the conference will be "Shaping the new information and knowledge society".

The conference will present the results of projects on the use of telematics for open and distance learning supported by the DELTA programme (flexible and distance learning). The event will also include a discussion on telematics for education and training under the Fourth Framework Programme and in the broader context of Community initiatives in this area.

The conference will offer plenary sessions with key-note speakers, together with practical demonstration and workshops. There will be key speeches on the following topics:
- The White Paper on Growth, Competitiveness, Employment - The Challenges and Ways Forward into the 21st Century;
- Europe and the global information society: Recommendations to the European Council;
- The Fourth Framework Programme and open and flexible learning.
