A workshop entitled 'Putting the human back into colour' will be held in Charleville-Mézières, France, from 21 to 24 February.

The aim of the course is to answer questions such as why do we find certain colours calming while others can enrage? Why are we unlikely to choose food in brown packaging? Why are some colours more fashionable than others?

Experts from a wide range of disciplines, including anthropology, linguistics, emotional research, architecture and interior design, and the use of colour in therapy, will use science to shed light on these questions. Topics will include the physical and psychological nature of colour, colour in memory, vision mechanisms, and the role of colour in industry, fashion, cosmetics, art and architecture.
