COST strategic workshop on forest ecosystems in Istanbul, Turkey
The workshop aims at identifying monitoring-related research requirements in the field of climate change and air pollution effects on forest ecosystems. In plenary and parallel sessions, experts will discuss climate change effects on forests, on the development of ozone monitoring and critical loads for eutrophication and acidification, as well as effects on biodiversity.
Nitrogen deposition levels remain critically high, as do ozone levels. Together with increasing CO2 concentrations and global warming, they have a substantial effect on forest ecosystems, which in turn play a major role in environmental protection as carbon sinks and in mitigating climate change. The workshop is intended to develop recommendations for future monitoring approaches, cause-effect research and risk assessment based on critical loads and dynamic modelling.For further information, please visit:
