Conference on regional development through ICT
The conference will provide the opportunity for regions to share experiences, exchange good practices, and to build collaborative projects in information and communications technology (ICT). There will be debate on some of the strategic policy issues and associated technology challenges that Europe faces.
More specifically, the conference will address a number of key issues including:
- digital ecosystems as a new model for competitiveness and economic growth for small businesses and regional development agencies;
- some critical success factors for regions to take account of in seeking to create more favourable environments for creativity and innovation through broadband;
- the ways in which regions and enterprises can use ICT in more beneficial ways;
- the risk and threats of e-Crime to the economy - tackling e-Crime from a Welsh, UK and European experience;
- the threats and challenges associated with growing use of ICT and the policies and practices needed to counter them;
- e-Inclusion from a Welsh, UK and European perspective.
In addition to a number of plenary sessions, a single half-day of parallel sessions will offer in-depth information about the results and conclusions of two EU-funded projects, namely TRANSFORM ('Benchmarking and fostering transformative use of ICT in EU regions') and PEARDROP ('Promoting ecosystems and regional development - in support of regional operational support of regional operational programming').For further information, please visit:
