The South African International Aerospace Symposium (SAIAS2008) will be held in Cape Town, South Africa, from 14 to 16 September. The theme for this event will be 'Advancing Africa through Partnerships in Aerospace'.

Building on the outcomes of SAIAS2007, the symposium will continue its role of advocacy and networking. However, this year the symposium will also include peer reviewed technical papers. The intention is to create a workable mix of industry presentations, policy and funding discussions, project workshops and technical papers.

SAIAS2008 is expected to discuss the results of several research projects and provide new opportunities for collaborations. Invited keynote addresses will also be included. Prospective local and international researchers, industry leaders, academia, government and non-government members and technology users are invited to present and attend this international symposium. It is expected that senior representatives from local and international agencies including the European Commission Directorate for Aeronautics Research Technology and Development will discuss bilateral research opportunities in the 2008 call for proposals within the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7), which puts a focus on specific cooperation between South Africa and EU Member States.

SAIAS2008 will be held in the week preceding the Africa Aerospace and Defence exhibition (AAD2008) and complements the air show with research and development activities. For the first time, SAIAS2008 will include the symposium of the Flight Test Society of South Africa. For further information, please visit:
