GLOBALDIV summer school, Piacenza, Italy
The summer school offers theoretical and practical lectures within an interactive educational programme directed first and foremost at PhD students and junior researchers. The number of participants is limited to 40. Candidates will be selected according to their field of experience, interests and motivation.
Lectures will focus on:
- farm animal production systems and threats to biodiversity in Europe, emerging and developing countries;
- novel technologies for DNA analysis;
- population genetics, statistics and software for the analysis of genomic and mitochondrial DNA data;
- reconstruction of farm animal domestication;
- discussion of case studies presented by participants.
GLOBALDIV ('A global view of livestock biodiversity and conservation') is a three-year project funded by the European Commission's Directorate General for Agriculture and Rural Development that aims to promote the formation of international interdisciplinary groups of experts in characterisation and conservation of farm animal genetic resources.For further information, please visit:
