Conference on 'New technologies and lifelong learning in rural tourism', Brussels, Belgium
For rural areas, tourism and human resources in tourism are key to economic growth, employment and sustainability. In this context, professional training needs to be enhanced in order to achieve the Lisbon goals. However, tourism professionals in rural areas usually find it difficult to access training due to long distances to urbanised areas where training is available, the structure of the tourism sector and lack of awareness with regard to their training needs.
The Forestur project, which will be presented in the framework of this conference, addressed these issues and helped establish lifelong training pilots in Romania, Hungary, Italy and Spain using information and communication technologies (ICT).
The conference will gather different EU stakeholders involved in the use of ICT and lifelong learning programmes in order to contribute to the diversification and sustainability of local economies and facilitate the exchange of experiences on high-quality continuous training for both employees and managers of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) involved in rural tourism.For further information, please visit:
