The ORBIT 2008 conference on 'Moving organic waste recycling towards resource management and for bio-based economy' is scheduled for 13 to 15 October in Wageningen, the Netherlands.

ORBIT is intended to give participants an opportunity to exchange insights and experiences and get updated on trends and developments in resource recovery from organic residue.

The conference will deal with a wide range of issues from the field including bio-waste and biomass as a valuable resource. Subjects of composting and anaerobic digestion will be discussed along with various aspects of technology and product quality. Emerging issues will be addressed, including sustainable energy recovery from biomass, organics as feedstock for a bio-based economy, carbon competition and the need for a comprehensive strategy for the preservation of the humus content in soils world-wide.

While the scientific discussion and the presentation of the latest research findings are the focus of ORBIT, there will also be time to incorporate the European political debate on waste, recycling, renewable energy and climate change in presentations and discussions.For further information, please visit:
