The European Space Agency (ESA) will hold a dual-use European security infrared element (DESIRE) workshop on 1 and 2 October in Brussels, Belgium.

The workshop aims to provide a forum to European industry, operational users, defence analysts and specialists to review the state of the art in the science, applications and operational use of thermal infrared (TIR) space-borne assets for defence and security.

As a user consultation, the event will focus on collecting information on European needs for high spatial and temperature resolution thermal infrared capabilities, with a view to possible developments to be carried out by ESA. The following topics will be addressed:
- state of the art of research and applications for defence and security with space-borne TIR;
- future plans and current operational TIR space-borne capabilities for defence and security;
- needs for high resolution TIR by stakeholders involved in defence and security.For further information, please visit:
