International conference on the implementation of the European Water Framework Directive, Sibiu, Romania

The international conference on the implementation of the European Water Framework Directive 'EURO INBO 2008' will take place from 1 to 4 October in Sibiu, Romania. It is organised by the Group of European Basin Organizations for the Implementation of the Water Framework Directive.

Three main topics will be at the centre of attention:
- Preparation of the programmes of measures for the Water Framework Directive;
- Implementation of the Flood Directive;
- Analysis of Water Framework Directive implementation in trans-boundary river basins.

The conference will consist of a variety of sessions, presentations and workshops, including a workshop and presentation prepared by the EU-funded 'Regional and national research programmes network on integrated water resource management' (IWRM-NET).

The event is open to all members of the International Network of Basin Organizations (INBO) and observers as well as water management organisations and other parties interested in the implementation of the Water Framework Directive and of the Flood Risk Directive. Participants from EU Member States and candidate countries of the European Union, all the other countries of the Balkans, the Mediterranean Region, as well as of eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia are welcome.For further information, please visit:
