A conference on the future of humanities research in Europe will be held in Strasbourg, France, on 8 and 9 October. It is the fourth meeting organised in the framework of the EU-funded HERA ('Humanities in the European Research Area') project and the first European Conference for Collaborative Humanities Research (ECCHR).

Under the title 'European diversities - European identities', the conference will feature 7 sessions and over 30 speakers covering some of the best collaborative research dealing with identity from different national, ethnic, religious or linguistic angles.

In addition, two new large-scale research programmes in the humanities fields on 'Cultural dynamics' and 'Creativity and innovation', which will be launched by the HERA consortium at the beginning of 2009, will be introduced.

The aim of the conference is to demonstrate the best cutting-edge humanities research in Europe and to encourage fruitful exchange between researchers and policy-makers as for the best ways of supporting new research. For further information, please visit:
