An international conference entitled 'Open access infrastructures: the future of scientific communication' will take place on 15 and 16 December in Athens, Greece.
The conference is part of the 'National information system for research and technology, phase III, open access electronic repositories and journals' project. In organising the conference, the National Documentation Centre (EKT) of the National Hellenic Research Foundation (NHRF), Greece, aims to:
- present recent developments and trends in open access infrastructures internationally and in Greece;
- highlight the benefits of implementing and using open access infrastructures for the academic community;
- promote the work of EKT/NHRF and of other Greek and international institutions on open access infrastructures;
- promote interest in and development of open access infrastructures;
- present assessments and possible scenarios on the development and the future of scholarly communication.
The conference comes as a response to the increasing interest of the international academic community in the benefits which open access infrastructures can offer in disseminating research and the exploitation of research results.For further information, please visit:
